Webhosting nightmare – sneaky unreliable webhost companies

webhosting nightmareIt’s not easy to find a good webhost. There is so many different once to choose from. I’m a designer and webdeveloper so I use and try many different once. I get some free offers you see. I can sit in front of my computer for days trying to find good hosting and let me tell you. It’s probably easier to find a good husband.

So what advice can I give you if your looking for a hosting company?

1. Uptime bullshit. Don’t believe the 99,9 % uptime guarantee bullshit cause it is simply bullshit. If you read the term carefully there are often a lot of exceptions and different hosting companies understand the term differently.

2. Google the term bluehost sucks as an example. It will give you a lot of information about how much bluehost sucks. There is even a website called bluehostsucks.com dedicated to warn peole to sign up with bluehost. If your thinking about getting hostgator. Google hostgator sucks. Problem is – it seams like most hostingcompanies has angry customers.

3. The most important for you is to have reliable hosting and speed. It’s not easy to find! Cheap hosting is not an option if your running a ecommerce store. Imagine what would happen if you run googleads and people clicking on your ad can’t get to your site. It can end up with an awful amount of loss for your company. If you have an ecommerce site – invest in reliable hosting. If you pay a little bit more they would be more concerned of keeping you as a customer. If you only pay 5 USD they can just say fuck you – she/he is stealing too much bandwidth anyway.

4. Check your credit card so the company doesnt charge you anyway. Sometime they can be sneky. It happened to me once. I always use a credit card with limited credit when I purchase online but you know. Be careful. I got a year free with the hostingcompany “scam” justhost and guess what – this company will try to rip you off in all kind of ways. They even hide text using CSS so you might think your getting something free but if you check the html code ou can see an asterix “by the way, we will charge your card”. That text was hidden with CSS. They also come up different offers like Your site has been nominated the best- therefore we will offer you this and that and you save. As soon as you come across a company with a car-salesman attitude – run.

5. The worst thing that has ever happened to me is that a site I had created was down for 6 days. The company Bluehost was responsible. If I hadn’t noticed it would probably still be down. They couldn’t even give money back or offer a month free as a compensation. check out bluehostsucks.com.

Oh my I love customer revolution :-)

6. I heard about a person who used hostgator. The company suspended his hosting because of copyright infridgement. Turns out his businesscompetition had been a little bit naughty and hostgator decied to believe in his competitors.

7. If you have a website in sweden focusing on the swedish market you should get a webhost close to sweden, not in the US.

8. I have only tried one swedish webhosting company and thats binero.se. I am utterly surprised by the great customer service but I’m just using this host temporalily in my serach for a VPS server.

9. You can’t really believe in all the top 10 reviews. Some people just review after the information hosting companies provide or they are paid to say sertain things. I believe you have to listen to the customers and why not ask for a one months free trial without paying in advance. The competition big – they should give you that.
